Trigeneration

AdKM_Aufsicht_faded (Medium)With trigeneration, electricity, heat and cooling can be generated simultaneously. The objective is to use the energy resources in the most efficient manner. Since cooling energy is often required when a surplus of heat is present, the method of trigeneration is relatively simple: Cooling energy is generated from heat.

To do so, a combined heat and power plant and an adsorption refrigeration machine are needed; their integration makes it possible to use a part of the thermal energy for refrigeration. Alternatively, the heat can be sourced to drive an adsorption refrigeration machine also through the immediate connection to a district heating grid or other heat sources.

Good amortisation times are frequently achieved with trigeneration since the primary energy is optimally exploited in this connection and the entire refrigeration system saves up to 70% electricity compared to traditional, electrically driven refrigeration machine. A further advantage of this technology: The adsorption refrigeration machine works with pure water – an environmentally friendly coolant. Particularly beneficial is the implementation in car dealerships, petrol stations, server rooms and for machine cooling.
